Growing up in Sudan, Merit* had dedicated her life to helping others. She worked as a doctor, and found her job helped give her meaning. But when armed conflict broke out in Sudan, she was forced to flee her home.

As a Muslim woman she ran to the Middle East. But losing her home, and the life she knew, left her feeling broken.  

Until she met Salma*. Salma told Merit about a new God, and a new type of healing. She opened up a Spark magazine and began to share about the difference Jesus had made in her life.

  “I never saw God except in the way Islam taught me… and I grew up afraid to believe there could be a different God than the one I was raised with,” Merit said.  

Now Merit is not only a believer, but she also brings healing to others through the gospel by leading Spark Events in her refugee camp.
